Lots of Swift and House Martin activity over the last week. Looks like some have fledged. 2-3 weeks ago numbers appeared lower. Number of House martins appear lower in general compared to other years at some times in appears Swifts are more numerous. Surprise last Tuesday in the form of a Hobby passing over my house southward bound about 8.20 pm Tuesday 22 July. Mistle Thrush seen in the trees of Haslingden County Primary School. Song Thrush heard singing on Sunday morning about 4.30 am - quite distant! First one I have actually heard in Haslingden for a long time.
Lesser Black Backs with juveniles passing over the town on Sunday just gone and today. One juvenile circling above my house may have landed on the chimney on my road, another circling around the round-about near tesco.
Lots of Lesser Black Backed Gull families flying over this week - the juveniles ca be heard begging for food as they fly over although some juveniles appear to have become independent from their parents already.
Had 2 Swift over Haslingden today - looked like locals but they appear to have vanished this week.
Mixed flock of Tits with treecreepers in memorial gardens haslingden today around 3pm
The treecreepers have been present a couple of days this week.
