All our usual species are doing well, the following are of interest I hope,
Chiffchaff two pair both nesting.
Willow Warbler seven different individuals some singing.
Blackcap three males and two females in a group displaying, two more males on there own.
Sand Martin eleven in the air above last years nest site.
Grey Wagtail two pair no apparent nest activity.
Dipper two pair nesting, suspect eggs have been laid.
Kingfisher male up and down the river.
Goosander three males and two females.
Song Thrush at least two pair with nests built.
Green Woodpecker nesting activity at new site.
Goldfinch there are two pair at different locations nesting, unusual for here.
Lapwing there are a pair on open land just above me displaying, this is quite low down but has occurred before.
I have checked all my nest boxes [40+] over the last few days, mostly Blue tit and Great Tit activity, Nuthatch in one box and nesting Bees in another, both Tawny Owl boxes appear unoccupied.
Regards Brian.
