TRIP TO LEIGHTON MOSS 2-6-2014

Had a great day out at Silverdale on the RSPB reserve Leighton Moss and surrounding area.

Down at Allen and Eric Morecambe pools was Avocets sitting on eggs and with chicks,

lots of Black-Headed Gulls with chicks.

On Leighton Moss first sight was a Nuthatch feeding 5 fledglings on the pathway in front of me

Red Deer seen in the reed beds

Coot - Moorhens - Greylag Geese - BH Gulls - Mute Swan  all with chicks

Lots of Robin fledglings running along the paths being feed

Reed Warblers - Tufted Duck - Marsh Harriers - Shelducks - GBB Gull - Swifts - Bullfinch - Chiffchaff

Pheasant- Pied Wagtail - Chaffinch - Collared Dove - L T Tit - Goldfinch - Greenfinch - Crested Grebe some of the birds seen

Garden Tiger Moth caterpillars feeding on reeds

I nearly went to Leighton today but went to Martin Mere instead! I hope to go to Leighton next Wednesday. Have you ever been to Gait Barrows - worth checking out. All these young birds fledging - spring does not last long sadly!
