From  5.30-7pm  today

 

17 Mallards....majority were Drakes and in eclipse.....not sure if the females were females or males in eclipse?

 

1 female mallard with 6 very small recently hatched ducklings

 

Canada Geese - big flock of them with some creching young - 10  small ones seen and min of 10 half grown.  

 

26 Lapwings  - farm on the west side of res none in field on grane road side

min  of 20 BH GUlls with 2-3 recently fledged juv's

3 Grey heron

1 Moorhen

0 Coot

4 min pied wags.....3 of them immatures

2 oystercatchers

2-3 linnet

4 singing reed bunting males with 2 chasing each other

1 cracking redpoll landed in the tree at top end and then had  drink from stream

min of 15 Magpies.....

plenty of meadow pipits many parachuting

usual crows, woodpigeons, collared dove over

1 cormorant landed in roost - judging by white on leaves looks quite active as a roost again

plenty of willow warblers singing - the only warblers seen or heard

3 wrens in song

2 song thrush

black birds in song

robin family party in hedgerow north end of res

1 dunnock singing

hundreds of large gulls over.......at least 2 immature herring gulls and 1 great black over in them
