Shatterford, New Forest.

Little Egret, 1,

Grey Heron, 1,

Buzzard, 2,

Curlew, calling birds,

Stock Dove, pair,

Nightjar, 1 was disturbed by a party in front of me and flew around for 30 seconds in broad daylight before going back into cover.

Swift, c40 hawking over the marshy areas,

G.S.Woodpecker, 2,

Green Woodpecker, 2 yaffling,

Woodlark, 2 pairs carrying food,

Skylark, c12 some singing,

Swallow, c12,

House |Martin, c6,

Stonechat, very numerous with perhaps 50 birds in around 10 family parties,

Dartford Warbler, a singing male and a calling male both seen in the heather,

Backcap, c3,

Chiffchaff, 2 singing,

Redstart, male in the lower branches of a large oak,

Nuthatch, 2 calling birds,

Treecreeper, a family party,

Jay, 2,

Martin Down.

Buzzard, 3 hanging over the grassland,

Kestrel, 1,

Pheasant, 1 calling,

Stock Dove, 2,

Swift, c80 hunting high over the grassland,

Green Woodpecker, 1 yaffling,

Skylark, c30 with several in song,

Swallow, c20,

Nightingale, a family party seen and heard,

Lesser Whitethroat, 3 in song,

Whitethroat, c12,

Blackcap, c4,

Yellowhammer, c20 with many in song,

Corn Bunting, 4 with 2 in song.

 

The butterflies at Martin Down were with spectacular with the following estimates:

Small Skipper, c500,

Large Skipper, c40

Small Tortoisehell, c20,

Red Admiral, c6,

Comma, 2,

Dark Green Fritillary, c100,

Marbled White, c200,

Meadow Brown, c500,

Ringlet, c100,

 

Also at Martin a Roe Deer & Hedgehog nearby!
