There were 2 Green Woodpecker one in felled plantation and other yaffled in wood at top end. Great Spotted Woodpecker calling at top end.

85 pink footed geese with at least 1 different type of goose amongst them as a different call was being made. Could have been a Barnacle Goose or some with them. Definitely not Greylag, Brent or Canada Geese.

The reason why I thought the call we heard was similar to Lesser Spotted was because it was very Blackbird lime but higher. It was roughly the same speed as a Blackbird alarm calling if a predator was near its nest but considerably higher. Not an expect on calls but sounded much faster and repetitive than any Great Spotted I have heard previously. It was in the King Hillock wood. I have never heard or seen Lesser Spots but anyway keep yours eyes open. Not saying it it was a Lesser Spot but definitely something I have never heard before.

Hi Craggy/Sarfraz,

Historically there have been sightings of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker in the afore mentioned wood, as you will be aware this is a very difficult species to pin down especially when access is restricted.

Regards Brian.
