A quick visit yesterday and before reaching the valley I saw:-

a  Buzzard,

a min of 40 Lapwing,

1 red breasted merganser male on a river,

2 kestrels around the hareden area

at the Langden valley:-

51 mallards on the river min

4 wrens

a pair of stonechat at langden castle

1 kestrel

2 buzzard

On the way back got a Tawny Owl flying across the road and 40 Mallards min in a field

Not much snow there as in Rossendale..also the peak of Pendle hill is white only......why do we get the worst of it even though it is not the highest ground?
