Holden Wood and Musden Head Moor

2-5pm

 

Holden Wood:-

 

min 66 lapwing

min 6 Mallard

2 coot - considering there was 0 exactly 1 year ago then numbers rose to 4 then dropped to 1, and then 0  when frozen and now 2.......they must move around a lot..but never see them in flight

teal heard non seen

100 plus black headed gulls

3 herring gull immatures

1 wren

 

Musbury Heights and Musden Head Moor:-

 

2 red grouse

2 carrion crows

2 meadow pipits

1 short eared owl

1 wren

4 goosander in flight over the moor heading east

4 herring gull heading to I presume fish moor

4 voles and a shrew species

 

Holden Wood:-

1 set of 13-16 lapwings appeared to head to Knowsely Ind Estate but another set of 13-16 lapwings  headed towards Fishmoor I pesume to roost there - I am not sure if the first set just turned around

blackbird in song 4 others seen

 1 song thrush in song another in flight so 2

3 mistle thrush - 2 near farm and 1 near grane road

robins dunnock wren singing also
