  • mute swan - 1 at Cowm & 1pr and a single at Wallbank Lodge
  • Canada goose - 1pr and a single at Lench, 1 at Kearn's Lodge, 9 at Cowpe Res, 5 prs in Whitworth Quarry, 11 at Cowm and 4prs at Spring Mill
  • teal - 3prs ion Whitworth Quarry
  • cormorant - 2 at Spring Mill
  • grey heron - 1 at Spring Mill
  • great crested grebe - 1 at Spring Mill
  • sparrowhawk - female at Spring Mill
  • kestrel - 1pr at Spring Mill
  • oystercatcher - 1 in Whitworth Quarry
  • lapwing - 1 nr Sheephouse Farm Stacksteads
  • jack snipe - 1 flushed from the edge of a pond at Whitworth Quarry
  • curlew - calling bird at Brandwood Moor, 1 at Whitworth Quarry & flock of 4 birds at Spring Mill Res
  • lesser black backed gull - min 100 at Cowpe Res, c250 on Brandwood Moor & c150 in Whitworth Quarry (possibly involved some duplication,  but birds were coming and going all the time)
  • herring gull - a few mixed in with the lesser black backs
  • stock dove - 1 near Cowpe Res
  • kingfisher - 1 at Lench Lodges
  • swallow - 3 at Lench, 1 at Kearn's Lodge, 2 at Whitworth Quarry, 4 at Cowm & 3 at Spring Mill
  • house martin - 9 at Spring Mill
  • willow warbler - 1 at Lench, 4 at Cowm & 2 at Spring Mill
  • stonechat - 1pr at Spring Mill
  • wheatear - 6 at Cowpe Res, 10 at Whitworth Quarry & 2 at Spring Mill
  • grey wagtail - 1pr at Cowm
  • pied wagtail - 4 at Cowpe Res, 4 in Whitworth Quarry & 3 at Spring Mill
  • meadow pipit - flock of 20 at Spring Mill and many singles and pairs all along the route
  • greenfinch - singing birds at Lench and Boarsgreave in Cowpe
  • linnet - 4 at Cowpe Res carrying nest material
  • redpoll - 1 at Cowm
  • bullfinch - 1pr and another male at Cowm
  • reed bunting - singing male at Cowpe Res & 2 males at Spring Mill

can't remember seeing any starlings at all
