Just got back from a walk in the shrubs and trees above Clough Bottom Res. Saw a couple of pairs of swifts and heard a few Willow Wablers in song. Then saw this large grey bird- thought it was a Wood Pigeon at first then ift flew about 4-5 ft of the ground into another tree. Then I thought it was a Sparrowhawk but seconds later the unmissable sound of the Cuckoo could be heard.

A first for me seeing one and a first to hear one in the valley!
