buzzard - 1 flew from Warth to Staghills Woods where it was joined by another. Both birds soared over the woods for a while attracting the attention of the local jays and magpies #

magpie - a family of magpies were making some of the strangest noises I have heard. These were then joined by a group of jackdaws who also started making a racket. Closer inspection revealed an adult magpie stood on another magpie which it appeared intent on killing. Presumably this bird was not part of the family group and was seen as a threat to the young of the other bird. Whatever the reason for the attack the bird that was stood on the other bird eventually let it go.
