I was mowing the lawn and disturbed a Bees nest in the ground
My book says Common Carder Bees nest above ground in old birds nests but I still think that is what they are.
Does anyone have another idea?
Cheers
Ian
Hi Ian
Looks like common carder to me. According to Wikipedia they nest above or below ground, preferably in old mouse nests but also in birds nests, barns and sheds
cheers Kevin
Got a good number of bees coming into the garden nice to see, and one is the Common Carder Bee
along with Red-Tailed Bumblebee - Honey Bee - Tree Bumblebee - Buff-Tailed Bumblebee
some photos below would like to know the last one is looks like hover fly [volucella pellucens ]
but this one has antennae and looks four winged
