Whilst walking my dog around Cowm Reservoir this evening (5-45 till 6-35pm) a sudden downpour had me sheltering under some trees, near to the waters edge. A quick search of the shoreline revealed a wader, that was quickly flushed by a dog (not mine). The sandpiper flew past me, about 15 yards away, at first I thought it was a Common Sandpiper (an uncommon visitor to Cowm) then I quickly realised that it was a Green Sandpiper! The bird flew down towards the water board house and as the rain eased I tried to re-find it, with no luck. Also present:- 25 Mallard, 14 BH Gulls (4 juveniles), 2 LBB Gull, 10 Wood Pigeon,12 Canada Geese, 6 Swallow.
