grey heron - 2
pink footed goose - skein of 43 flew up the Irwell Valley at 10:45
goosander - 1 redhead on the river and 2 flying down the Irwell Valley
buzzard - several sightings of at least 3 birds, 2 of which were seen locking talons
sparrowhawk - 6 sightings of 4 males, 1 female and a pair
wood pigeon - 3
pied wagtail - 1
great tit - 6
blue tit - 4
coal tit - 3
long tailed tit - min 9
robin - 13
blackbird - 5
song thrush - 1
mistle thrush - 1
redwing - flocks of 8,10, c30, 34, 60, 78 & 2 singles. Also a single & flocks of 20 & 55 over Staghills Woods & a flock of c50 flying from the Glen to Lench
fieldfare - 63
treecreeper - 1
dunnock - 4
wren - 5
jackdaw - min 40
raven - 1 over
carrion crow - 6
magpie 8
jay - 1
chaffinch - 2
goldfinch - 8

Hurdles area
cormorant - 2 flying down the Irwell Valley
kestrel - 2 (1 also over Cowpe Lowe)
great black backed gull - 1 over
lesser black backed gull - 1 over
green woodpecker - 1
meadow pipit - min 6
raven - 2
carrion crow - 8 plus min 35 over Cowpe Lowe
chaffinch - 1 over
crossbill flock of 7 over towards Cowpe

Heights Quarry
meadow pipit - flock of 25
wheatear - 1

Plunge
nice to meet Geoff Margison
kestrel - 1 pr
green woodpecker - 1

fieldfare - 2 flocks of 20 (Geoff also saw a flock of c50 flying up the valley)
redwing - flock of 17 flying down the valley & 1 in with the fieldfares
wren - 4
jay - 3
Geoff also saw 4 ravens and 2 buzzards before I met him
