Canada Goose, several pairs including several sitting birds one of which was on the top of the moss at over 1500 feet. It spread itself flat to the ground, head and neck stretched out in front, whilst I passed within 10 yards of it. 

Mallard, pair on moorland pond,

Buzzard, soaring bird to the west,

Sparrowhawk, female being hassled by a crow over Brandwood Quarry,

Lapwing, pair on pasture above Brandwood Quarry,

Curlew, pair off Rooley Moor Road,

L.B.B.Gull, c60 hassling crows near Top of Leach,

Stock Dove, pair near Brandwood Quarry,

Skylark, c12 with several in song despite the low temperature and dull day,

Swallow, single flew high up the Cowpe Valley singing,

Meadow Pipit, c20 with several in display,

Pied Wagtail, pair near Cowpe Res,

Wren, 1 in song in Cragg Quarry,

Wheatear, 2 pairs,

Song Thrush, 2 singing birds,

Mistle Thrush, 1 near Brandwood Quarry,

Willow Warbler, c4 singing near Blackwood,

Coal Tit, pair at Rook Hill,

Carrion Crow, c40 at Top of Leach,

Starling, 4 at Rakehead,

Greenfinch, 2 at Rakehead & 1 at Rook Hill,

Chaffinch, 2 singing at Rakehead,

Reed Bunting, 1 on rough pasture above Cowpe Res.
