I sat and watched a cuckoo in the Musbury valley on Tuesday evening (24/5). It flew across me, landed on a  branch and I had a great view for 5 minutes or so. Given how it looked (unkempt and "fluffy"), I initially assumed it must have been a fledgling but, after discussions with Neil, it seems it was probably an adult female.

Unfortunately, I didn't have my camera with me. no

Excellent sighting. Every Cuckoo counts. I had a male there last year and it just sounded surreal as he called on that warm spring morning. Musbury is a good where we get regular sightings so clearly it is a good place for them. I have not been up much this year that way but hope to soon.
