Completely out of the blue this Sedge Warbler was singing near Alderbottom in bright sunshine this morning, and to crown the find even more l had my camera at the ready, unbelievable luck.
This is only the second record of this species in my area, last was in May 2007, the area it was found in is regularly visited by me especially this year as two pair of Whitethroat have bred nearby, so I have to assume it is a passage bird.
Good and unexpected find. Does nt have to be a Pallas's Grasshopper Warbler to be exciting. Late June until end of August can be an exciting time of year for bird movements in Rossendale. Autumn has already started for the birds whist we still wait for summer!
