  • cormorant - 16 (a single and a flock of 7 seen flying south probably heading towards Holden Wood to roost at around 15:00hrs)
  • mallard - c40
  • teal - 7
  • wigeon 2
  • scaup - female still present at northern end of res constantly diving and never associating with other ducks
  • goosander - 3 males & 6 redheads (5 of these flew south off the res)
  • lapwing - flock of 40 flew towards the res as I arrived, only around 4 seen at the res
  • snipe - 1 flushed from beside the path in south bay
  • black headed gull - c40 when I arrived, numbers built up to c150 when I left, with more still arriving
  • common gull - c6 when I arrived, numbers built up to c50 when I left, with more still arriving
  • lesser black backed gull - 1 adult on the res when I arrived but departed later.  No other large gulls seen
  • woodpigeon - min 5
  • meadow pipit - 1
  • grey wagtail - 1
  • pied wagtail - 1
  • robin - 4
  • blackbird - 4
  • goldcrest - 2
  • long tailed tit - min 12 in one flock
  • blue tit - 3
  • great tit - 2
  • wren - 6
  • magpie - min 5
  • carrion crow min 5
  • raven - 1 possibly 2 flying north west
  • chaffinch - 4
  • greenfinch - calling bird near the car park  
  • goldfinch - 2 heard
  • lesser redpoll - 3 behind the boat house
  • reed bunting - min 15 behind the boathouse & 1 at the northern end of the res
