Overall a total of 68 species were seen which equals the best for a winter bird race. 

Five birders for this year's event meaning two teams.

Team A (RI, DN)      = 64 species.

Team B (IB, BK, KL) = 58 species.

New species included 3 stunning Waxwings, feeding on berries at Groundwork, Rawtenstall and a Scaup, still present on Clowbridge Reservoir.

Other highlights included:

Dabchick, 1 on HTL,

G.C.Grebe, 2 on Clowbridge,

Cormorant, 20 on Holden Wood and 3 off Clowbridge,

Pink Footed Goose, skeins of 40 & 27 over plus calling birds in the mist,

Teal, 11 on Holden Wood,

Goldeneye, 3 on Holden Wood,

Buzzard, Birds at Grane & Chapel Hill,

Peregrine, Rawtenstall,

Coot, 1 on Holden Wood,

Snipe, c20 on Edge Cote,

Jack Snipe, 2 on Edge Cote,

Stock Dove, a flock of 14 near The Duke of Wellington,

Kingfisher, 1 at Clowbridge,

Green Woodpecker, 1 at Holden Wood,

Stonechat, 1 at Holden Wood,

Raven, pair calling,

Rook, c6 at Crawshawbooth,

Siskin, c6 at Balladen Clough,

Redpoll, 1 at Balladen Clough,

Your right it is a good picture of the Scaup......
