Strongstry woods and river, 0700/1030 hrs, bright sunshine, calm, temp rising from 2 to 10 degrees.

Sand Martins....now 20 plus individuals with at least 8 existing nest sites being cleaned out. There were six birds at the nest site on the 31/3/2017 (been away for a week) that is 10 days earlier than any other year since they started nesting here.

Chiffchaff......6/7 seen and heard in the local woods.

Willow warbler..... 7 individuals seen and heard in full song at various locations, especially Porritt lodge and railway embankment.

Blackcap....1 male in full song near picture frame, this is near a nest site used last year.

Swallow.....3 birds quite high flying north over Porritt lodge, I have started a nest box scheme for Swallows and House Martins in the local area with nest boxes erected in appropriate places.

Regards Brian.
