Spent a few hours this morning watching the local pair of Green Woodpeckers displaying and checking out existing nest sites and making an attempt to excavate a new one, it appears no decision had been made when they went there separate ways to feed in the adjacent fields.
Attached is not the brightest male I have ever seen but still a good looking bird.
