That time of the year so some of us will be going on a Spurn Trip. If any one is interested then do let me know via here or text. Cannot fix a date before hand because as all of you know best to go after Easterly winds and sometimes they can be unproductive. We have almost always gone on a Sunday but can be flexible about this. Can meet as early as 4am and usually no later than 5.30pm in Rossendale of course and back in the valley by 9pm. Packed lunch essential. There is usually space for 1 or 2 people and sometimes even 3! It is not just about the rarities but the sheer number of common arrivals, sea-watching and even seals, deer, migrant butterflies, moths and dragonflies!
I will be there on 6th-11th Sept and 12th-16th Oct.
Sadly can't offer any room as car full of camping gear. Would be great to meet up with a few again as I enjoyed it last year. Don't let the wind be a determining factor entirely. Agree about not just rarities seeing loads of Robins or Goldcrests is quite something.
Could I remind any visitors to Spurn that there is now an excellent cafe open at the front of Sandy Beaches. As many know YWT have made a mockery of their "widlife trust" name by building a visitor centre and car park on a very sensitive area (yet very profitable). Personally I am not looking to use the facilities their and hope others may support local people with their cafe.
Besides full English for £4!
Hope to see some of you.
If I get chance to go other than these dates I will let you know.
