12 Lapwings appear to be starting to hold territories, chasing off crows and display flight.

2 pair Oystercatcher

80+ Canadas

6 Mistle Thrush over

1 Snipe

1 Wren

2 Robins

1 Dunnock - early spring song

Great tits singing

Hi Ian

I was up at Holden Wood with Peter & John later in the morning and can add the following

WATER RAIL - 1 heard at top end from the wooden bridge. Quite vocal for 20 - 30 minutes from around 11:45, Not heard when I returned @ 14:30ish

  • Canada goose - c77 at Holden Wood & c116 @ Ogden
  • Barnacle goose - "barney" was with the Canadas at Ogden, missed it on the way to Calf Hey, but saw it on the return
  • mallard - c10 on Holden Wood & 2pr on Ogden & Calf Hey
  • teal - 8 on Holden Wood & 5 at Calf Hey
  • coot - 1
  • moorhen - 1
  • lapwing - c28. 18 were across the road from the traditional lapwing field.
  • snipe - presumably a different bird to yours
  • woodcock - 1 flew over Holden Vale
  • kestrel - 1 female
  • buzzard - wing tagged bird seen, appeared to be blue on left wing and green on right wing
  • pied wagtail - 1
  • grey wagtail - 1
  • meadow pipit - 1 at Ogden
  • stonechat - 1pr
