Big increase in willow warbler numbers today with at least 9 singing birds heard (2 around sewage works, 2 on the way up to Haslingden,1 nr Pike Law, 3 between Top of Slate and Stone Fold, 1 nr Goodshaw Fold).
Otherwise migrant numbers appeared much lower than yesterday - only about 5 swallows and 1 or 2 sand martins EBSW (although fairly early in the morning) and 1 swallow Mitchells House. 2 chiffchaffs Groundwork and 1 Ewood Bridge. 1 wheatear Cribden Flats and only a couple of linnets here.
Curlews south of Mitchells House and on the moors to the east (first here since the last snow)
No sign of yesterday's shelducks at Mitchell's House (or much of anything else)
