Amazing what sunshine and 18 degrees can do.....

Wood Warbler....singing and visible within 100 yards of last sighting.

Plunge.....Good numbers of Wheatear, at least two pair Stonechat, yesterday, and a Cuckoo flying and calling this morning info from PaulG.

Reddisher woods....yesterday evening Cuckoo calling.

Strongstry river....Sand Martins have returned and excavated three holes, better than none. Two pair Dipper, one pair where adults both with food are calling for young to leave the nest. Three pair Grey Wagtails nesting.

Local Swallow sites....low numbers but nesting has begun approximately 17 days late on 10 year average.

Tawny Owls....after the disaster of March weather Two Owl boxes are in use and young being fed.

Between Stubbins and Irwell Vale, in the woodland several Chiffchaff, Willow Warblers and Blackcap singing.

Above average numbers of Blackbird, Song Thrush and Coal Tit, and a nesting pair of Greenfinch.

House Sparrow Numbers at Chatterton site seen high.
