Sunshine, light south westerly and 10 degrees. 1200/1600 hrs

Lovely November afternoon along the river with plenty of insect life, and a late Red Admiral on a fence post at Alderbottom.....

Did not see any feeding flocks but plenty of Blue,Great and Coal Tits around the woods.

Two parties of Long-tailed Tits, one at Alderbottom 12, and the other at Irwell Vale 7.

Good numbers of Nuthatch all round.

Only one Great Spotted Woodpecker seen.

Plenty of Wrens along cycle track in undergrowth.

Single Treecreeper feeding in Lumb Vale.

Unusually high numbers of Goldfinch, there has been 25 plus at the feeding station for a while, today 5 charms of 12/8/24/ and 30 at Ravenshore, Irwell Vale, Lumb, Alderbottom and Ewood bridge.

Four Redpoll on garden feeders in Irwell Vale.

14 Greenfinch at Ravenshore also 20 plus House Sparrow.

One pair Bullfinch at feeding station and another at Ewood bridge.

Good numbers of Blackbird and Robin all round.

Single Mistle Thrush in Irwell Vale, Several Song Thrush feeding in leaf litter in woods.

Three flocks of Redwing, 12/9/14 around Lumb, Ewood bridge and Ravenshore.

12 Fieldfare over Lumb Viaduct.

Seven individual Dipper spread out along the river.

Two Grey Wagtail feeding near Alderbottom.

There has been three Kingfisher on winter territories along the river for a while, only two seen today.

Also on the river were good numbers of Mallard, two Grey Heron, and three Moorhen.

Several vocal Jays through the woods.

Carrion Crows, present in high numbers in open fields above Lumb vale

Single very distinctive Buzzard over Irwell Vale, with middle primaries missing from both wings.

Pair of Pheasant at Alderbottom.

Two pair Collard Dove at Irwell Vale.

Large flocks of Woodpigeon every where.

Large southerly movement of Jackdaw at dusk, flocks of 40 plus, total around 350.
