  • cormorant - 1 over Waterfoot & 2 flying towards Grane over Rawtenstall
  • grey heron - 2 at Holmes Terrace Lodge & 1 over Newchurch
  • Canada goose - 1pr at Holmes Terrace Lodger
  • mallard - 30 at Rawtenstall & 3prs at Holmes Terrace Lodge
  • moorhen - 1 at Holmes Terrace Lodge
  • buzzard - 1 over The Holme and possibly a different bird over The Holme
  • sparrowhawk - 1 male flew through Ashlands on Turn Pike. A female soaring over Waterfoot. 1 male at The Holme & another male over Fallbarn
  • snipe - just 5 at Edge Cote
  • herring gull - there seemed to be birds almost constantly in the air, with perhaps c150 - 200 birds seen either fling towards the Limy Valley or north through Haslingden
  • great black-backed gull - 1 through Edge Cote to Limy Valley with 8 herring gulls
  • common gull - 1 on pasture at Edge Cote plus 3 flyovers
  • black-headed gull - flock of c70 over Waterfoot, flying over female sparrowhawk
  • great spotted woodpecker - 2 prs chasing each other around Trickett's Memorial
  • skylark - 3 flew north over Edge Cote
  • stock dove - 1 over Seat Naze & 2 at Edge Cote
  • woodpigeon - 2 males fighting over a female at Gaghills
  • feral pigeon - c80 at Rawtenstall & 10 at The Holme
  • collared dove - 2 panicking at the sight of a male sparrowhawk at Ashlands
  • dipper - 3 in territorial dispute at Mill End
  • nuthatch - 1pr at usual breeding area in Trickett's
  • song thrush - birds singing at Gaghills, Trickett's Memorial (3), Edgeside Wood & Park Road Waterfoot
  • mistle thrush - 1pr at Marl Pits
  • starling - flock of 43 flying in tight group to avoid male Sparrowhawk at Turn Pike & c36 doing the same at The Holme
  • house sparrow - 7 at Chapel Hill Cottage
  • chaffinch - flock of 6 at Trickett's. Singing bird at Chapel Hill
  • bullfinch - male and female at Gaghills, calling bird at Trickett's
