Hi Dave

a couple of bits to add to your sightings

  • Canada goose - 159 birds across the 3 reservoirs
  • cormorant - 16 in the trees at Holden Wood @ 4pm
  • goldeneye - another female in Jamestones
  • goosander - 1 redhead on Holden Wood in the afternoon
  • lapwing - 24 at Holden Wood
  • oystercatcher - 14 at Holden Wood
  • snipe - 2 at Ogden
  • great black-backed gull - 2 adults & a juv on Ogden
  • herring gull - 5 immatures alongside Ogden
  • chiffchaff - singing bird at Holden Wood
  • long-tailed tit - min 3 prs around Calf Hey with another 3 birds at the feeders plus a pair at Heap Clough
  • brambling - probably at least 15 at Calf Hey
  • siskin - min 3 in the woods at Calf Hey & at least 10 at the feeders
  • bullfinch - 1pr at the feeders at Calf Hey

Pics show a chaffinch with a possible case of Fringilla papillomavirus. There's also a long tailed tit & a siskin with different coloured legs. I've seen this in linnets, twite and a couple of other species. Does anybody know if this a sign of ill health?

cheers Kevin with Neil & Susan Burke around Ogden
