Working in Barnsley, as I do, I spent the evening at some of its birding hot spots, mainly the moors towards Woodhead pass and the flashes near Grimethorpe with the following seen:

Merlin, male seen twice dashing over the moors,

Peregrine, male seen twice over the moors,

Buzzard, several,

Nightjar, 2 seen well and 3 'churring'

Woodcock, several 'roding' birds,

Black Tailed Godwit, 1,

Avocet, 2,

Little Egret, 1,

Long Eared Owl, 1,

Lesser Whitethroat, 3 singing birds,

Stonechat, family party.

Regards,

David.
