I parked up on Limy Lane and went to look out from the first gate towards Crown Point and picked up a bird on the horizon which looked initially like a bird of prey. I was thinking Hobby but it just didn't fit right and as it got closer I could see it was an Alpine Swift.

An unbelievable sighting and the last bird I expected to see tonight as I always associate Alpine Swift with high summer but having seen them in several European locations I'm sure of the identification. The bird headed off south west over Nutshaw.

Also of note:

G.C.Grebe, 2,

Goldeneye, 1,

Stonechat, 2 males,

Jackdaw, c400 into New Laithe,

Raven, min 16 on pylons.

Regards,

David.
