Winter feeding station.

The feeding station has been up and running for four weeks now and not a lot of species or numbers present until Wednesday of this week when things changed.....

Blackbird....still only residents, around 6.

Blue Tit....5

Great Tit.....7

Long-tailed Tit....first flock of 12 turned up Wednesday and have been here since taking lots of fat.

Coal Tit.....over several years now this species numbers have increased year on year, difficult to count definitively but there are many more now than 14 years ago.

Goldfinch......22, steady increase over the last few days.

Siskin....3, two males and a female turned up yesterday and are still present.

Bullfinch.....one pair, still low for November.

Greenfinch....2, these are unusual here and early this year.

Chaffinch.....24,.....two days ago there were 6.

Nuthatch.....7, the usual good numbers

Treecreeper.....2, first ones today talking mealworm.

Robin....6 today.

Dunnock.....2

Wren....none seen today but they have been around.

Song Thrush....3 arrived today.

Great Spotted Woodpecker.....usual pair.

Jay....only one, but massive Beechmast crop in the woods.

Magpie....2

Jackdaw......3

Wood Pigeon......5

Collared Dove.....first two pair came on Wednesday and still present.

A female Sparrow Hawk has been around for a while in the general area, but over the last couple of days it has taken up residence in the Rhododendrons and has successfully taken a Blackbird, Wood pigeon, and a Goldfinch recently.
