Had a good view of a couple of wheatear this afternoon on Musbury Heights, on the footpath overlooking Calf Hey. I saw a possible 6 birds in the space of 10 minutes, but no more than 2 at any one time, so there may have been duplicate viewings.

Hi Paul
Have you put this on Birdtrack as historically there are no records for Lancashire this late in the year
Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian,

I put them on here after speaking to Neil & Sarfraz and them recognising the significance of the sighting at this time of year. I was hoping somebody else may have seen them too.

I'll make an entry on Birdtrack later.

Paul

According to the Birds of Lancashire and North Merseyside the average last day for Wheatear in Lancashire is 1st November. There are a few records up to the 27th mostly from the coast but one from Whitendale on 20th is or was latest inland Lancashire record. November records are probably not yearly and may constitute just a handful. You are more likely to get Desert Wheatear in November than Northern :p
