The environment agency were dealing with a pollution incident on the brook that runs from Jack Lodge down to The River Whitwell alongside Shawclough Road today. Where the brook passes under Edgeside Lane you could not only smell diesel, you could taste it. Hopefully they are able to minimise any damage to wildlife and local eco systems, but the person who reported it apparently said there had been a smell for a couple of weeks
