Canada Goose, 2 pair near Shortclough,

Buzzard, 3 soaring birds including one over The Whitewell Valley,

Kestrel, 1 over Swinshaw Moor,

Lapwing, 2 pairs, in display on Twenty Penneth,

Snipe, just a single bird on Edge Cote,

Common Gull, c30 feeding on pasture near twenty Penneth,

L.B.B.Gull, 2 on a sheep carcass,

Stock Dove, pair plus a single,

Wood Pigeon, flock of c40 near Edge Cote,

G.S.Woodpecker, bird calling from trees on Edge Lane,

Skylark, just a single bird singing near Twenty Penneth,

Meadow Pipit, 8,

Pied Wagtail, 2,

Fieldfare, flock of c50 feeding on pasture near Crown Farm,

Redwing, 2 with the Fieldfares,

Mistle Thrush, pair near Bonfire Hill,

Coal Tit, calling bird on Edge Lane,

Rook, I could see c6 of the nest at Goodshaw,

Raven, single over Swinshaw Moor,

Starling, c20 in with the Fieldfare,

House Sparrow, small groups at Waingate and Edge Lane,

Goldfinch, c12,

Greenfinch, c4 towards Bonfire Hill,

Lesser Redpoll, 1 in Balladen Clough,

Chaffinch, c12, several in song,

Hi Dave

I was at Edge Cote this morning and can add the following to your sightings

  • grey heron  - 1
  • snipe 14
  • kestrel - 1
  • skylark - 4
  • goldcrest - 4 singing birds
  • long-tailed tit - 3 + 2 at Marl Pits
  • reed bunting - calling bird

thought I heard crossbill and linnet, but couldn't be 100% sure in the wind
