Musbury Valley, 2nd June
Permalink

I had an evening walk up Musbury, here are the highlights:

  • 1 great spotted woodpecker
  • 1 cuckoo calling more or less continuously at Hare Clough and then further up the valley
  • 2 buzzards sparring
  • 1 kestrel
  • 3 pheasant (m)
  • 1 little owl (photo in poor light)
  • 1 grasshopper warbler reeling at Hare Clough
  • 1 curlew heard

I was walking down Hare Clough just as dusk was setting in, when a buzzard came out of the trees at the bottom and flew low up the valley. It hadn't gone far when 2 crows attacked it from above and forced it to the ground and there was an almighty ruck for a minute or so. I watched the best I could in the light but didn't see the buzzard again.
