Had a report of sightings of Siskin by a land owner at Alderbottom, quite unusual for us in the summer so spent some time and found probably two family parties feeding on the alders along the Irwell, this would not be unusual in winter but I have not recorded them possibly breeding here before, while watching the Siskin there was several Willow Warbler, Blackcap, and family parties of Long-tailed Tits, then an adult Wood Warbler appeared and fed along the lower leafs and moved to an old Hawthon and fed on small caterpillars, I watched for over half an hour but it did not appear to carry the insects anywhere, it then disappeared into a large Ash and was not relocated.
