whooper swan - 9 flew over Gaghills this morning, heading roughly south east
cormorant - 1 flew up the Irwell valley
moorhen - 1 at Lench
sparrowhawk - males over Waterfoot and Lench
GOSHAWK - large bird of prey seen through trees at Lench as it flew up Cowpe valley. Thought it was a buzzard at first but as it came clearer into view saw it was clearly a large hawk, larger than a female sparrowhawk. The bird then went into a long shallow dive and disappeared out of view.
