Early evening.

Grey Heron, 2,

Canada Goose, pair at EBSW,

Mallard, 3 pr at EBSW,

Goosander, pair feeding,

Buzzard, 2 singles over,

Sparrowhawk, female put everything up at EBSW and was mobbed by c20 Pied Wagtails,

Moorhen, 2 on HTL & 2 on the river at Irwell Vale,

Oystercatcher, pr on EBSW,

Stock Dove, pr at EBSW & flock of 3 over,

Collared Dove, pr in Irwell Vale,

Kingfisher, 1,

Swallow, c10 feeding low over water at HTL plus 6 down the valley,

Sand Martin, 2 feeding low over water at HTL,

Meadow Pipit, 6 behind EBSW,

Pied Wagtail, c20 on EBSW,

Dipper, pair & a single,

Song Thrush, c6 in song plus one on river bank,

Willow Warbler, c4 in song,

Chiffchaff, 2 in song,

Blackcap, 1 in song behind EBSW,

L.T.Tit, pair,

Coal Tit, singing bird,

Goldcrest, 1 in riverside conifer at Irwell Vale,

Nuthatch, 5 singing birds,

Treecreeper, 1 at Irwell Vale,

Jay, 2 behind EBSW,

Goldfinch, 4,

Greenfinch, 2 'wheezing' birds,

Chaffinch, c6 in song,

Bullfinch, pair stripping buds off trees in a garden at Meadow Park,

Hi David

I was around the area lunch-time when there were at least 100 hirundines over the sewage works - perhaps 70 sand martins, 30 swallows and a single house martin. 3 blackcaps in the area but only one willow warbler for me. Male goosander on the river
