08:00 hrs Oakenhead Wood Lane (overlooking Twin Lodges & Rawtenstall)
2 flocks of c15 redwing in first hour then 900+ from 09:20 hrs for the next 45 minutes, largest flock c160 + c100 into Cribden Clough from Reedsholme at 11:00hrs approx.
All birds coming from over Reedsholme area and moving along hillside then over ski slope in a general southerly direction. Very little in the way of calls.
Fieldfare - just 4 or 5 in with redwings
Chaffinch - 2 singles moving through S.
Meadow Pipit - 2 on hillside.
Raven - 1 displaying out from hillside then a pair over towards Chapel Hill area later.
Cormorant - 1 circling Twin Lodges then flew up the Limy valley.
Buzzard - 1 calling from cover nearby
Jay - one calling from cover.
Carrion Crow party of 10 on hillside.
Starling - flock of c70 flew onto mast.
Sparrowhawk - 1f on ground - (the reason why starlings flew to mast).
Goldfinch - flock of 10 at Twin Lodges on wires.
Mistle Thrush - 1 at Twin Lodges, scolding sparrowhawk.
Bullfinch - 3 nr. Holland Ave. on elder.
Wildfowl sp. - flock of c15 distant at 08:45, high probably over Edenfield - heading S. appeared to be Pinkies (looked too compact for swans)
