Winter feeding station Strongstry.

A very slow start from feeding at end of October, due mostly to the mild weather and an abundance of Acorn, Beech Mast, Alder and many more seeds. The last week has seen an influx of birds due to the drop in temperature, last night I recorded the lowest this week - 5.4 degrees.

During a two hour watch this morning between 0930/1130 the following were recorded, numbers are maximum seen at one time.

Great Tit.    5

Blue Tit.     7

Coal Tit.    8

Long-tailed Tit.  8

Goldfinch.   12

Greenfinch.   2

Bullfinch.    3

Chaffinch.    12

Robin.   7

Dunnock.   3

Wren.   2

Nuthatch.   5

Treecreeper    1

Goldcrest    2

Blackbird.   10

Song Thrush.   3

Great Spotted Woodpecker.   3

Collared Dove   2

Woodpigeon   3

Feral Pigeon   5

Jackdaw   4

A notable absentee is Jay, they have been recently but only odd ones but there are still lots of acorn on the ground in the woodland.

Regards Brian.
