A text from Sarfraz saying a Alpine Swift had been reported at Elton Reservoir, asked
if he was going but unfortunately he was busy with work.
With reports over the last week of Alpine Swifts being reported all around the coastlines
i was hoping one would show a little closer to home, with this one being right on the door step
binoculars in hand I swiftly made my way to Elton Reservoir.
On arriving could see a small group of birders at Capsticks end of the reservoir, within a few
minutes I was watching my first ever Alpine Swift and what a show it was putting on doing
some big circuits covering Withins Reservoir then suddenly came right at us low over our heads
twisting and turning effortlessly then off up high, a much bigger bird than I had anticipated what
a cracker
Nice to meet up with David Ousey and a big thanks to Sarfraz for is texts
Cheers Craggy
