Morning stroll with NigelG.

2 juv. Raven on Hardmans Mill chimney.

Pied Wagtail - 1 on cricket field at Newhallhey.

1 Mistle Thrush singing - Newhallhey.

Chiffchaff - present throughout 6+ birds.

Willow Warbler - singing birds at Newhallhey, Ewood Bridge, Irwell Vale etc.

Whitethroat - 6+ singing birds from Groundwork downstream as far as Ewood Bridge.

Sand Martin - just 3 birds at the colony.

Kingfisher - 1 on river.

Swallow - Party of 3 + and few singles.

Swift - 1 over E.B.S.W.

Bullfinch - 1 calling at Irwell Vale.

Goldfinch - pair at Irwell Vale + singing birds.

Sparrowhawk - 1 over Irwell Vale + 1 over Newhallhey.

Dipper - 1 at The Holme.

L.B.B. Gull - continual movement to the south over Horncliffe area.

Absence of any Grey Wagtails along the river as well as very low numbers of hirundines was notable.

E.B.S.W. bereft of any birds apart from jackdaws.
