For anybody interested, we will be holding the summer bird race on June 4th this year. For anybody who hasn't taken part before, we meet at the car park opposite the Royal Hotel in Waterfoot @ 6am and split into teams and meet up, probably at the Buffer Stops in Rawtenstall, at 4pm to compare sightings. The club has been doing bird races in winter and summer since the mid 90s and, whilst in no way scientific, the results have given a valuable snapshot of how the local bird life has changed during this period.
