A minimum of 7 waxwings are present at Haslingden Sports Centre car park feeding on rowan berries. I watched them 10:50-11:50am. Thanks to SteGidz for finding and reporting them.

Amazing find by Ste Gidley who not only found the Waxwings but the spot too.  I'd had a look at about 9.15am but none there not even Thrushes.   Numbers built up from 7 to 11 or more.  I am glad Ste found them and made a lot of people happy today - Waxwings in the bright sun can be a rare combination especially if you add the word local into it.    One online comment mentioned 11 Waxwings on the 11th day in the 11th month.  I did not expect any until December because we always seem to get them late but today we were at the front of the queue and maybe 20 people turned up on this glorious day.   I think they will stay but who knows?   I think  there are more scattered throughout Helmshore.  Supporting cast of Blackbirds including Scandinavian birds, Mistle Thrush and a couple of token Carrion Crows.  About 40 Lapwings in flight too, flashing (not that kind) in the sky  they wheeled around.
