Cold and sunny 2 degrees (-5 overnight) 1400hrs/1600hrs.

Of note.

Redwing.  16 on Hawthorn Ox Hey, 30/40 on same Irwell vale.

Buzzard.  One Ox Hey, two soaring Hodge Clough.

Great Spotted Woodpecker.  Two Ox Hey, one Lodge farm, two Strongstry woods.

Jay.  three small groups, 2/4 Ox Hey, Irwell Vale and Strongstry.

Fieldfare.  Flock of 40/50 mobile around Lumb woods feeding on the ground and on Holly. For this time of the year there are lots of berries left, I put this down to reduction in numbers of Wood Pigeon.

Woodcock.  My first this winter, flushed above Hodge Clough.

Grey Heron two and one over Lodge farm lodge.

Moorhen.  Two on above lodge.

Coot. Single on above lodge.

Dipper.  Two Irwell vale one Alderbottom.

Grey Wagtail.  One Irwell Vale.

Stock Dove.  Pair near Alderbottom.

Jackdaw.  Loose flocks of 30/40 moving south, total number in high hundreds.

Regards Brian.
