Great Northern Diver 

Calling at Pine Lake for the Great Northern Diver first on my way up to Leighton Moss 

was fishing/diving in the bay behind the watersports center giving very close views 

a nice lifer for the New Year 

RSPB Leighton Moss 

1 female Ring-necked Duck 

A nice mix of ducks was seen too 

Lots of Snipe around but didnt see any Jack Snipe

Marsh Harriers giving good views 

1 Buzzard 

1 Kestrel

1 Peregrine Falcon 

A field just off Leighton Moss had

15 Fieldfare 

10 Song Thrush 

6 Redwing 

2 Mistle Thrush

2 Blackbird 

12 Curlew 

7 Black-tailed Godwit

until all spooked by Peregrine Falcon 

As daylight was fading the Starlings put on a fantastic show with thousands upon thousands coming into roost

Nice start to a new birding year
