1 Red necked Grebe, feeding well near the boat house from lunch time - no doubt dropped in due to low cloud all morning. Still present at 14:15 hrs.

Another rarity up here, a single Grey lag Goose.

2 Great crested Grebe

Pr Canada Goose

5 Mallard

1 male + 2f Goosander + 2f on the back pond.

Pr Raven

1 Kestrel

4 Buzzard high and calling

c/10 Common Gull

c/10 B.H. Gull

1f Stonechat

1 Meadow Pipit

2 Stock Dove

12 Wood Pigeon.

Nice pics Ian. The red-necked grebe was still present when myself and Andy Young left at 10:30 this morning, with Craig still there.

Only thing to add to Bob's post sightings wise were the following

  • curlew in the field behind Point Wood
  • skylark - 2 singing birds
  • redpoll - at least 2 in Point Wood
  • reed bunting birds at each end of the res

on the walk back to Rawtenstall the following were noted at Greenfold

  • lapwing - 11
  • skylark - c8
  • stonechat - singing male with 2 females 
  • starling - c50
