Cold northerly 7 degrees bright 0830/1130 hrs

Mute Swan.  not seen this morning but been seen flying over Chatterton and returning to the river, so could be the one Andy saw on Grane.

Dipper.  Three pair on territory some displaying and song taking place, single at fourth site.

Grey Wagtail.  Two pair feeding along bank.

Pied Wagtail.  Pair near old picture frame.

Goosander.   Two pair displaying On river, and pair on lodge farm

Canada Goose.  One pair on lodge Lumb no nest yet.

Buzzard.  Pair circling over Alderbottom.

Moorhen.  Pair on river Irwell vale, pair Lodge farm, single lodge in Lumb

Coot   Only single seen lodge farm 

Mallard.  Plenty males chasing females along river.

Grey Heron.   Single on river at Alderbottom, cannot find a definite nest site anywhere, maybe one at lodge farm, none at soap works or Alderbottom.

Little Grebe.  Three on Lodge farm lodge, one is a definite adult the other two not sure.

Greenfinch   6 in conifers Lumb

Goldfinch   Several pairs

Bullfinch   Pair in Irwell vale and Strongstry 

Siskin   Single on feeders Alderbottom 

Chaffinch   One in song Strongstry several more around.

Chiffchaff   One in song Irwell vale.

Song thrush   3 in song. One carrying nest material on Strongstry railway bank

Great Spotted Woodpecker   Two drumming.

Great,Blue,Coal Tit, Robin,Wren,Blckbird,Dunnock good numbers all round.

Treecreeper.  pair feeding in same tree.

Nuthatch.  2 in back garden, another couple in woods

Long-tailed Tit.   Several pairs feeding

Jackdaw   Several nesting in Strongstry chimneys 

House Sparrow   10+ in Chatterton lots of displaying.
