Hi there

I have recently started birding again after quite a while.  I try to get down the Irwell Valley most weekends and am really enjoying it.  I have one question though.  I believe there is a lodge at Holmes Terrace, however, I don't know how to get to it.  Could someone help me out so I can have a look next time I'm in the area.

Thanks very much and I will start posting my sightings soon

Thanks

Matt

Hi Matt -

Good to see you on the forum.

Holmes Terrace lodge is at SD799219.  I think it is still a private lodge belonging to Rossendale Combining nearby.  However, others on the forum visit it quite often so should be able to advise how to get to it.

This link shows its location: http://getamap.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/getamap/frames.htm?mapAction=gaz&gazName=g&gazString=SD799219

Hi Matt

To get to Holmes Terrace Lodge cross the wooden bridge over the stream that enters the Irwell just off Holme Lane (across the Irwell from Rossendale Combining).  Go through the gate and follow the path that should take you past the building in the field.  Stop at the stile so you don't startle the birds.  Hope this helps.  I often go along the Irwell Valley so maybe I'll see you down there someday.

cheers Kevin
