2005 - Oystercatcher nested successfully on the Buckhurst side of Whitewall farm. I saw them with juveniles on my second BBS visit. Didn't see them 2006

About May 2005 saw a pair of Little Ringed Plovers mating near the 'pond' just north of Pinfold close to Harden Moor.

2006

Common Sandpiper nested on the Cheesden Brook at Croston Close Bottoms - the first stream nesting for how many decades? Stonechats nested again in the gully that leads from AMR down to the stream. Earlier, in the Spring, Stonechat pair on the bracken covererd hillside at Washwheel Mill ( Cheesden Brook..) In June male Stonechat carrying food on gorse / thorns at Ridshaw ( Buckhurst.) In May Sedge Warbler sang from the raspberry thicket next to Buckhurst Farm - one singing at the same time at Buckhurst Lodge.  Partridges seen fairly regularly in the Pinfold / Throstle Hill area , just off Harden.

Thanks for this info, Colin.  ROC members do get to Cheesden and Deeply Vale but it's good to have confirmation of the Oytercatchers breeding etc.

We eagerly await your reports this year.
